Silhouette of a silhouette
shadows seen as shadows fled
in the dark they manifest
light shines through them
Hold hope not hate
magnificent magnetic make opposites reconnect
polarised rhetoric is always turned on it's head
saying they know what's best for the oppressed
the oppressors protect, the oppressors interests
no one else's
protecting their putrid profits
care is missing
protecting their putrid profits
empathetic
protecting their putrid profits
for loss of business
protecting their putrid profits
funding for arts has been stripped and sold
I can't stand the state of it
open the books on the billions of pounds so we
can choose what to do with it as a collective
for grass-roots and venues, keep the pulse of the people
alive, not for profit but for enriching our lives
outreach and teaching so expression is easy
and paid fairly and on time and cut the cut throat culture out
art is not business and support is not clout
